Implementation of RAID5 Codec IC with SATA Interface

A RAID5 codec controller IC with SATA interface was designed,which contained data encoder/decoder,parity generation and reconstruction,SATA controller interface,and ARM interface,etc. It supports 3-to 8-channel independent disk drive array,and its data transfer rate reaches 3.0 Gb/s. The maximum storage capacity utilization is 87.5%. Fabricated in 0.13 μm CMOS process,the chip,which contains about 68 000 gates in the logic part,could find applications in various storage management system.
