The technology of multicast transmission can carry out a communicati on from one source end to some target ends.In video monitor system, one video se rver often transmits same real time video data to some clients. In order to use n etwork resource in effect, the technology of multicast transmission is used to t ransmit real time video data. The paper describes the principle of multicast and its route protocol, designs a system of collecting video data, and analyses a ne twork of real time video data transmission. Simulcast and layered multicast tech nology of the video data transmission, which can improve quality of video data received by clients, are also discussed in this paper.
