A ROUGH SET APPROACH TO DISTRIBUTION NETWORK FAULT LOCATION BASED ON FAULT COMPLAIN CALL INFORMATION

Dajun Si · Power System Technology · 2004

A new method for fault location in distribution network is presented by using the fault complain call information from different positions and the rough set theory. For the structure of a certain distribution network, first, a program that can automatically make the decision table for fault location based on fault complain call information is accomplished. Then, applying the rough set theory, the decision table is reduced. Finally, the fault location rules can be derived from the minimal reduction of decision table and the inherent redundancy of fault complain call information is discovered. In this method the trivial calculation is not necessary, so not only the time for fault location and isolation can be greatly shortened, but also the objectivity of the rules can be ensured. While the information of trouble calls is imperfect, because of the good faulttolerant performance of the proposed method the fault location can still be finished quickly and accurately. A lot of simulation results show that the method is simple, feasible and effective.
