WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network ) technology experienced rapid growth in recent years. There are four major standards in WLAN. They are the IEEE802.11 family, Bluetooth, IrDA and HomeRF. Among them IEEE802.11 and Bluetooth technology are com-monly deployed. As an information platform, Home Network combined network communication, controlling network and multimedia net-work.This paper discussed WLAN technologies and the recent developments in each area, then compared the IEEE802.11 and Bluetooth technology when applied to home network.
