Study to Determine the Velocity for Power Cable PD positioning

As the cable PD pulse fast propagation,make much influence in cable PD position.As the result of which the cable parameters are different PD pulse propagation velocity differently.Positioning of small differences in velocity will result large deviations.For different cable,PD positioning should be based on the experimentally determined velocity.This paper analyzes the widely used cross-linked polyethylene(XLPE) cable insulation PD pulse propagation characteristics of the proposed cable PD positioning method for determining velocity.The method is based on fitting the experimental data obtained in PD pulse propagation time in the cable and cable length of expression,precise positioning for the PD-point basis.
