Adaptive MLC system based on LDPC codes under Rayleigh fading channel

Two adaptive coded modulation schemes are proposed for MLC (multilevel coding) system employing LDPC (low-density parity-check) codes as component code under slowly Rayleigh fading channels. In the first adaptive scheme, we adopt two modulation modes: 16QAM and 64QAM. In poor channel conditions, the MLC system with 16QAM modulation is employed. As channel conditions improve, the MLC system with 64QAM modulation is used. In the second adaptive scheme, we adopt three modulation modes: QPSK, 16QAM and 64QAM. Through simulation, we obtain the performance of adaptive MLC under a certain BER and give the comparison between adaptive MLC system and non-adaptive MLC system, the comparison between these two adaptive schemes is also given.
