Application of wavelet transform to detect power quality transient signal

With the wide application of sensitive power electronic devices in industry,the power quality disturbance problems such as transient become more concerned.The detection and location of the start point of the transient is a key problem for the power quality monitoring.The principle of singularity detection using continuous wavelet transform is presented in this paper and a dyadic wavelet transform approach for detection and location of the transient traveling waves is proposed.With the approach based on standard error estimate,noise was greatly decreased and the result was obviously improved.
