Because of the array size limitation, the conventional methods can't estimate the direction of arrival(DOA) of signals spaced in one beamwidth. To solve this problem, two algorithms based on signal subspace and noise subspace fitting technology are presented. These algorithms estimate DOA by fitting the collected data subspace with the subspace spanned by steering vector, and construct a sharp spectrum peak, therefore estimate the DOA of signals.Performance of the algorithms are analyzed via computer simulative tests.Simulation results show that the noise subspace fitting algorithm takes on the properties of high space resolution to signal sources spaced closer than a beamwidth, and can provide statistically consistent DOA estimation. The signal subspace fitting algorithm can only identify closer signal sources in condition that sensors of array are large, but it isn't sensitive to background noise.
