State-of-the-art of no-dig directional drillers and their intelligent control

The state-of-the-art of domestic and overseas no-dig directional drillers and associated intelligent control as well as their future development trend were summarized. In the paper it was pointed out that the oriented drilling control technique, the specialized control technique for the directional driller, detecting the underground cable and pipeline technique and the safeguard technique against touching them, development of drilling software and intelligent malfunction diagnosis are the pivotal technologies need developing for our country to cope with the international competition and to occupy the international market.
