Characteristics of Geographical Distribution of Peers and Traffic Localization Model of BT

A general model about traffic localization approaches of BT was proposed,which describes the download rate and cost of peers exploit localization approaches.The model reveals that the geographical distribution of peers plays an important role in improving the performance of BT.Then,the correctness of the model was validated by conducting three sets of real Internet experiments.Besides,more than 2 million torrents in 12 month were investigated and the geographical distributions of peers were found to follow Zipf-like law both at country level and AS level,which can help to understand and answer questions related to traffic optimization of BT.
