Application of total station to calibration of hydrological cable-way

Yong Wang · Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering · 2008

The distance from initial point is traditionally calibrated with theodolite or normal level, for which the relationship between the moving distance and the distance from initial point can only be obtained through complicated calculation after laying out the baseline or reading the stadia wires. It is found herein that the horizontal spaces between all the vertical lines within the moving distance of the cable can be directly observed with the function of opposite-side survey of the total station. It is valuable to be popularized to the hydrographic surveys such as the measurement of the distance from initial point and the large cross-section survey etc.
