New 4×4 Matrix Kaup-Newell Spectral Problem and Its Integrable Decomposition

A new approach to construct the new 4×4 matrix spectral problem from 2×2 matrix Kaup-Newell spectral problems is presented.The isospectral evolution equations of the new 4×4 spectral problem are nothing but the famous Kaup-Newell equation hierarchy.The binary nonlinearization method is adopted to prove that there is an integrable decomposition of the Kaup-Newell equations in the sense of Liouville.
