In the network service, some applications as FTP,HTTP and Email are not sensitive to delay of transmitted information, while other applications like voice and video are vulnerable to loss, delay and jitter of the information. In order to differentiate among classes of arriving traffic and satisfy their individual requirements, each router as part of the resource allocation mechanisms, must implement some queuing discipline.Based on introduction to three queuing disciplines,FirstInFirstOut (FIFO) Queuing,Priority Queuing (PQ) and WeightedFair Queuing (WFQ),from modeling and simulation on OPNET environment, the effects of different queuing disciplines on packet delivery for three applications FTP,Video and VoIP are analyzed. At the same time, the paper investigates how the choice of the queuing discipline can affect the applications and utilization of the network resources in the routers, and the results are given.
