Research and Application of the 3D Model Retrieval in Freehand Sketch Contour Feature

In order to retrieval effectively the needed 3D model among high volume of 3D models, it presents 3D model retrieval based on contour feature of the freehand sketches. These processes extract firstly the smooth contour of the freehand sketch from the preprocessed sketch, use then Fourier transform to reduce dimensionality of the extraction in a feature vector generation and transform of translation, scaling and rotation. It defines the Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) distance to compare the similarity between the freehand sketch and models. The experiment results show that the proposed method is effective and efficient.
