A linear clustering topology based on wireless sensor networks

Mei Hu · Transducer and Microsystem Technologies · 2010

Aimed at the defects of the nodes, such as high energy consumption and imbalanced energy in the linear topology,a wireless sensor networks model is constructed for distributed real-time monitoring system. The model improves the linear random method of the nodes distribution. The main idea of the model is to divide the WSNs fields into distributed, linear and clustering topology and a node according to the same probability independently makes its decision compete for becoming a cluster head in a cluster. In addition,it assumes that the cluster head aggregates data from other cluster member or cluster head as one message to communication.Simulation results have shown that compared with the linear topology, the topology can decrease the energy consumption and prolong the lifetime of the network effectively.
