Multi-reference Frame Motion Estimation Algorithm for H.264 Based on Multi-resolution

This paper proposes a multi-reference motion estimation algorithm for H.264 based on multi-resolution.It imports the multi-resolution to get the motion vector rapidly,and utilizes the motion vector and the temporary motion vector map to predict optimal motion vector for a reference frame,which does not need the same search complexity.Experimental results under x264 software platform show that the algorithm can decrease the multi-reference motion estimation time notability,while the quality of video image degrades little.
