For greatly reducing computational load of traditional constant modulus algorithm (CMA) or sign constant modulus algorithm (SCMA), double sign constant modulus algorithm(DSCMA) is developed and its structure is analyzed. The developed algorithm has turned multiplication operation in iteration process into comparison operation via extracting the hierarchical sign of iteration factors and its computational complexity is much smaller than that of the CMA or SCMA. The DSCMA-based multipath underwater acoustic channel blind equalizer has many features such as fast convergence, low excess mean square error and low computational complexity, etc. The proposed blind equalizer is simulated using negative sound speed gradient channel and deepwater channel. The result has shown that the blind equalizer can effectively overcome the multipath interference of underwater acoustic channel.
