A Hierarchical Key Distribution Method Based on Chinese Remainder Theorem

Conditional Access System (CAS) is an essential technique which can realize to receive informational broadcasting session under control, and the key distribution is one of the important parts of the conditional access system. The cost of systematic communication and the workload of key update are quite heavy in typical conditional access system. This paper provides a new key distribution scheme based on hierarchical encryption structure and Chinese Remainder Theorem. The scheme can satisfy security-demand of the conditional access system, and solve the two important problems in typical conditional access system. Besides, the proposed scheme is more flexible and efficient in processing joining and leaving of subscriber.
