Design and Implementation of a Protocol Converter for Space Station Based on Split-TCP

The inherent features of space networks,e.g.,long propagation delay,high BER(Bit Error Rate) and network asymmetry,have significant impact on the performance of traditional TCP.Split TCP is used to break the end-to-end TCP connection into a number of independent connections and each connection has its own congestion control and error control mechanism.The paper describes in detail the key technologies of SCPS-TP protocol converter.Test results show that the protocol converter enhances TCP performance over space networks.
