Petroleum exploring information is related with geographic location. A GIS-based information system can make full use of petroleum exploring information and have a good management and publication for this kind of information. According to the contents of oil exploration and the aim of the system, a multi-level GIS platform is built to manage exploring resources, to construct geographic location-based data distribution and service. This platform combines C/S and B/S architectures, which has a powerful data processing and a rapid data issuing ability. It is easy to maintain. It is significant for improving the separate data management, providing services of exploration information and realizing data sharing in oilfields.
