Novel Construction Method of LDPC Codes in Optical Communication System

A modified construction method of LDPC codes,based on the construction method of SCG(4,k) codes,is proposed.Compared with the traditional method,this novel method has such advantages as saving storage space and reducing computation complexity in the hardware realization.LDPC(5929,5624) codes were constructed with a redundancy of 5.42% by using this method.Simulation analysis shows that this novel code has better error-correction performance and lower decoding complexity than classic RS(255,239) code that has been extensively applied in optical communication systems.
