a new block motion estimation approach.Novel Oriented Diamond-Arc search(NOADS) is presented in this paper, which uses small cross,diamond and arc search pattern.According to the characteristic of the center-based motion vector distribution for the real-world video sequence,NOADS employs small cross pattern,choose to extend horizontal or vertical diamond search pattern adaptively to refine the central area of(quasi-) stationary motion vector search and employing diamond-arc search pattern for large motion vector respectively,both search strategy can keep performance well.Experimental results indicate that NOADS can reduce the number of searching points to improve the searching speed with the similar searching precision.This algorithm can do better in(quasi-) stationary and large motion searches,and improves the searching speed about 20%compared to DS,30%~60%compared to 3SS.
