Peer-to-Peer TCP Communication Across Network Address Translators
WU Xin-long · Journal of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications · 2006
As NAT devices are becoming prevalent,it is difficult to implement P2P communication based on TCP.This paper provides a method to create direct TCP connections between hosts behind different NATs.Minimal help from a third-party is needed before TCP connection is established.Based on address detecting technology and modifying some fields of the TCP head, this approach implements NAT traversal of TCP applications. It is efficient because no future external help is needed after connection set up.
