A Study of Highly Concurrent Event-Driven Servers

Weiqin Li · Computer Engineering and Science · 2007

In this paper, the event-driven programming mldel used in highly concurrent servers is analyzed and studied.A novel server software architecture which uses both events and threads is presented.Compared with some usual programming models, server applications based on this architecture gain the advantages of scalability, resource consumption and easy usage in programming.By using a high-level Petri net,the hybrid event and thread architecture is modelled and a performance comparison is made with the traditional multi-threading model.
