Multi-moving targets detection based on p_0 order CWD in MMW radar

SU Guang-chuan · Systems engineering and electronics · 2005

In the modern MMW radar detection system, how to eliminate the interference of cross-terms during time-frequency analysis of multicomponent LFM signal and to set up complex motion compensation are of greatly importance. A new method named p_0 order Choi-Williams-distribution (p_0-CWD) transform based on the fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) is proposed. Accompanied with the implementation of hough transform (HT), accurate detection of moving targets is realized. The algorithm is rather time-saving due to the elimination of the need for sophisticated motion compensation by using FRFT. Some experiments are carried out on echo signal of the initial phase and the obtained results reveal a 0.5 m resolution even in the case of low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Simulation results indicate that the method can precisely detect groups of flying targets.
