Improving Structured Grid Generated for Configuration with Acute Convex and/or Concave Corners

Erke Qin · 2008

Aim.Existing methods, which use the solution of elliptic partial differential equation to generate structured grids, meet with serious difficulty at acute convex and/or concave corners. We now present our method that we believe can minimize such difficulty. In the full paper,we explain our method in some detail;in this abstract,we just add some pertinent remarks to naming the first four sections of the full paper. The first section is: generating the grid with the parabolic partial differential equation. In this section,we discuss the grid generation based on the parabolic marching scheme.Section 2 is: generating the reference grid.Section 3 is: smoothing the grid.In this section,we discuss how to apply a special smoothing technique to the configuration with acute convex and/or concave corners to improve grid qualities.Section 4 is: choosing control functions according to the topological structure of a grid.In this section, we generate the body-fitted and smooth grid which is orthogonal to its boundary. Finally, different grids are generated for several simple or complex configurations. The discussion of the results, which are shown in Figs.1 through 9 in the full paper, shows that the method used in this paper to generate grid is robust and efficient.
