Perl is a powerful programmable language.Huffman coding is one of popular algorithms for file compression.This paper will implement Huffman coding by Perl programming,and describe the basic idea of the Perl program and application skills of Perl data structures.In last part of the paper,according to the output of running this program,the relation of the compression ratio of file by Huffman coding with character variety and its occurrence frequency will be presented.
