An image scrambling method based on bit operation of diagonally folded pixels

Meng Li · Journal of Shandong University of Technology · 2009

In order to improve the security of image transmission, this paper presents a new image scrambling method combining the position and grey-scale information. In this method, after even-row pixels and even-column pixels are exchanged, every sequence of pixels in each even row are reversed, which disorders the spatial position of the image. Then the image is folded along the two leading diagonals and corresponding pixels are processed by a bitwise exclusive OR operator.Next, the image is divided into several blocks and each is operated with the same bitwise operator as above. The two steps of bitwise operation lead to a scrambling in grey-scale space. Finally, when odd-row pixels and odd-column pixels are exchanged, every pixel-sequence is reversed again in each odd row, which deepens the scrambling degree.Experimental results show that the method is superior to several existing methods such as Arnold,Hilbert,MSB and chaos scheme.
