A CMOS High Linearity Variable Gain Amplifier

Zhihua Wang · Semiconductor Technology · 2004

A variable gain amplifier (VGA) working at intermediate frequency (IF) for wirelessreceiver is presented. It consists of an operational amplifier (op-amp) and resistor feedback networks. The distortion of close loop amplifier is analyzed. It reduces the distortion of large output signalsmainly by improving the linearity of output impedance. The fully differential VGA is designed inKorean Dongbu 0.25μm CMOS technology. The power supply is 3.3V. While the differential out-put is 2Vpp, the distortion is less than -80dB, the power consumption is 3mW.
