An Algorithm for Image Encryption Based on JPEG2000

According to the latest image compression standard JPEG2000, this paper proposes a new real-time encryption method which can encrypt wavelet coefficients during the process of encoding. The algorithm is based on a new wavelet confusion method called OCWF and combination with sign encryption. Experimental results show that this encryption method has good effect, low cost and small impact on compression capability, and is totally suitable for situations needing high compression ratio. The method meets the needs in some useful situations such as copyright protection.
