Improvement on Rijndael Algorithm for IC Card Application

Research on Rijndael algorithm reveals that the enciphered text length is larger than that of the plain text with high time complexity, which is inconvenient for data encryption in IC card application. According to the requirements of IC card application, this paper proposes an improvement on Rijndael algorithm. The improved algorithm is applicable in IC card data encryption through length equalization by patching on the plain text with dynamic cipher, safety guarantee by extended key schedule algorithm, and time complexity reduction by degrading the number of encrypting rounds.
