Major problems in safety monitoring for hydropower dams and counter measures
Liao Shou · Northwest Water Power · 2003
Hydraulic structure monitoring is an important means for ensuring long term safety operation of dams. At present, major problems commonly exist in safety monitoring for hydropower dams. In view of this situation, it is necessary to adopt the following measures: to strengthen daily monitoring management; to lay stress on maintenance of monitoring facilities and behavioral management of design, construction and operation organizations; and to promote automation of dam safety monitoring system and application of computers in dam safety management; to systematically conduct comprehensive analysis on measured data, so as to bring about its overall process management and make the safety monitoring play critical role in dam safety management.
