The Computation of Conceptual Similarity in Ontology
Jing Jie Sha · Computer Engineering and Applications Journal · 2006
Ontology is usually viewed as the sets of concepts, attributes and relations.Ontology heterogeneity is the primary obstacle for interoperation of ontology.Ontology mapping is the best way to solve the problem. The key of ontology mapping is to compute similarities between concepts. In general, the computation of similarities doesn’t consider the influences of relations and attributes. Therefore calculative results have errors. In this paper, the similarity is computed with two aspects:first computing the semantic similarity, and then computing the descriptive similarity.Experiments results show that this calculative method can improve the precision of calculative results.
