Clinical effect of Xuezhikang combined with atorvastatin in the treatment of elderly patients with hypertension complicated with coronary heart disease.

Objective InvestigatetheclinicaleffectofXuezhikangcombinedwithatorvastatininthetreatmentofel- derly patients with hypertension complicated with coronary heart disease. Methods Eighty patients with hypertension com- plicated with coronary heart disease in our hospital from January to June in 2012 were enrolled in the study. According to the random principle, patients were divided into atorvastatin group(40 cases) and Xuezhikang combined with atorvastatin group(40 cases), with 8 weeks as a treatment course. The patients of the atorvastatin group received oral atorvastatin calcium(20 mg once daily), while those in Xuezhikang combined with atorvastatin group received Xuezhikang(2 pieces twice daily) on the basis of the atorvastatin group. All patients avoid taking other drugs affecting blood pressure and coronary heart disease and in the two weeks before treatment and during treatment. Diastolic blood pressure(DBP), systolic blood pressure(SBP), blood lip- id parameters including total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG), high density lipoprotein(HDL-C) and low density lipopro- tein(LDL-C) and other indicators were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate in Xuezhikang combined with atorvastatin group(70.00%) was significantly higher than that in atorvastatin group(55.00%), with statistically significnat difference between the two groups(χ2=11.70, P0.05). After treatment, the levels of the indicators detected in Xue- zhikang combined with atorvastatin group were all significantly better than those in atorvastatin group(P0.05), except for HDL-C. Conclusion Xuezhikang combined with atorvastatin has significant clinical effect in the treatment of elderly pa- tients wit hypertension complicated with coronary heart disease, which is worthy of clinical application.
