Focusing on the energy consumption and the network delay in wireless sensor network applied to emergent event monitoring,a new data fusion algorithm for the wireless sensor network based on event-driven and minimum delay aggregation path is proposed. The process of dynamically clustering the sensor nodes is based on the event severity,by which the scale and lifetime of clusters are determined. The fusion waiting time is determined by the hop count from fusing node to cluster head and the degree of fusing node. With the fusion waiting time of all nodes in the path, the total waiting delay in the path can be calculated, with which a minimum delay aggregation path can be achieved. The simulation results indicate that the algorithm here can efficiently save the energy and remarkably reduce the network delay;furthermore,an appropriate method for wireless sensor network applied to emergent event monitoring is provided.
