Sub-band filters using non-Gaussian heavy-tailed distribution

The detailed components of image transformed by Wavelet are proved to possess a typical heavy-tails nature and following α-stable distribution.Based on the bi-parameter Cauchy Gaussian mixture(BCGM) model which is a concise representation of α-stable distribution,the design on Bayesian and MAP shrinkage filters is developed.The experiments on removing additive noise illustrate that proposed shrinkage filters outperform the classic soft-threshold shrinkage in wavelet domain and are efficient in improving the quality of denoising image.
