H.264/AVC is the newest video coding standard and intra prediction is an important constituting part of it.The reference program from JVT(Joint Video Team)used the full search algorithm for intra prediction which is an algorithm with high complexity and not fit for real-time video. In this paper, based the correlation of the best prediction mode of 4×4 blocks in one 8×8 block,a new fast intra prediction algorithm using textural features extracted from gray-tone spatial-dependence matrix is proposed.Experience results show that the proposed fast algorithm can achieve remarkable computation reduction while maintaining similar PSNR and bit rate performance.
