TTAH: A Reconfigurable Hash Function Processor Based on the Transport Triggered Architecture

Hongyi Lu · Computer Engineering and Science · 2007

Message integrity can be achieved by the hash functions of cryptography, and hardware implementations are essential to high-performance requirements in special applications such as trusted computation. In this paper, according to the similarity of the widely-used hash algorithms, custom reconfigurable function units are developed.By integrating these units into a transport triggered architecture,a reconfigurable processor TTAH is implemented. The results of mapping several hash algorithms to TTAH show that TTAH is faster and more area-efficient compared to the fine-grained reconfigurable architecture, and it can support these hash algorithms with little overhead compared to ASIC.
