Screening of flocculant-producing microorganisms and studying of the flocculant activity

5 strains were isolated and purified from sewage sludge.Each strain was cultured in relavent flocculant-producing mediums.Among these strains,E_1 had high and stable flocculating activity for Kaolin suspension.Ca 2+ was of help in flocculation.When the sample was added at the proportion of 2.0%,the flocculation activity reached 90.32%,and remained firm as pH value changed.The optimum cultural condition of E_1 was decided:pH 8.0,temperature 40 ℃,cultural time 72 h at the rate of 180 r/min.
