Developing Data Processing Module For the Pavement Maintenance Decision Support System
Sun Li-ju · Shanghai Highways · 2004
A very common practice in applications of Pavement Management System (PMS) is to upgrade the existing Road Infrastructure Management System (RIMS) by embedding advanced Decision Support System (DSS) as a module. However, inconsistent of data structure between RIMS and DSS often make many highway administration be in a dilemma. One hand, a large number of historical data has been accumulated in RIMS, but they cannot be used in DSS directly; the other hand, the cost would be prohibitively high if rebuilding a RIMS according to DSS. Therefore it is proposed in this paper that a generalized data interface model can be designed for embedding DSS into RIMS to coordinate their data structure.
