To solve the problem in the field of mechanical collaborative design,this paper studies the DXF file in the field of mechanical design and it was expressed in XML,meanwhile,explores the XMPP protocol in the area of instant messaging which has the open and extensible feature.To develop a collaborative mechanical design system by combination the DXF and XMPP,which make DXF file inputting,display,editing and transfer by Internet.It improves the ability of the collaborative design in the machinery industry.
