An adaptive weighted scheduling scheme in differentiated services network

LE Chun-hui · Journal of China Institute of Communications · 2004

An adaptive weighted scheduling scheme is proposed for the fairness problem among multiple services in current differentiated services network. This scheme periodically measures the metrics in local buffer of router, and calculates the scheduling weights for fair bandwidth allocation among the queues. Simulation results show that it can quickly and adaptively adjust the scheduling weights to ideal settings upon the changes of traffic load, which effectively improves the fairness of bandwidth allocation.
