A Study on Spurious Signal Analysis and Spur Reduction of Direct Digital Frequency Synthesis

Spurious spectrum is the key characteristic in further application of direct digital frequency syn- thesis (DDS) technology.There are several sources of spurious signal:phase truncation,amplitude quantiza- tion,DAC's none ideal characteristics,etc.This paper analyzes the spectrum of the output signal under the ideal conditions is analyzed and the effects of the spurious resources on the spectrum quality of the output sig- nal are presented,and then the methods of spur reduction,such as dither injection,time-delayed addition, data compression,etc are summarized.The conclusions are useful for the application of the DDS.
