Vector graphics data compression mainly remove redundant and keep the extra point feature point of the storage graphic elements data.Vector curve compression has the vital significance in geographic simulation, map the database construction and geographic information study.Through analyzing the GIS traditional vector data compression algorithm——Douglas-Peucker data compression algorithm,it indicates the traditional compression algorithm programming complex and time consuming.A kind of relatively simple feature point extraction method is proposed, this algorithm through calculating the slope of the adjacent vector data, using the difference in slope as constraint conditions, through the simulation experiments in MATLAB7.0,the algorithm is more simple in the process of extracting vector curve feature point than Douglas-Peucker algorithm.Compressed process of slope does not exist line can also have good extraction feature points.as for complex curve and the feature point extracting are also very accurate.
