Design of Wan Card Based on IXP1200 Network Processor

Wan Card,supported by ATM technology, is used in DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) system. DSLAM system utilizes this card to connect with IP network. Bridging IP packets between ATM and Ethernet network requires a great deal of resource, therefore, it′s easy to lead to the bottleneck of system. The article introduces a new design of wan card based on IXP1200 network processor. The design, which makes full use of the strong capability of processing data and flexibility of network processor, realizes it and we can depend on requests to add new functions and characteristics.
