Study of High Efficient Silicone Defoamer

Zhi‐Hao Wang · Silicone Material · 2010

A new high efficient silicone defoamer was prepared with silicone paste composed of dimethyl silicone and silicon dioxide, white oil as carrier,Span-Twain blend as main emulsifying agent, with non-ionic and anionic surfactants to form a stable paste. The effects of mass fraction of the components on the defoamer performance was investigated. The emulsification process was carried out under water phase condition in a conventional mixing device. The optimization of the formulation were as follows:the mass fraction of high/low viscosity of silicone paste was 4% and 5% respectively, the mass fraction of silica was 4%,and the mass fraction of the emulsion was 4% with HLB value of 8.5.
