A Survey on Web Service Transaction

He Guan · 2005

As Web service technologies have become firmly established and widely adopted, traditional transaction se- mantics and protocols have proven to be inappropriate for some Web services-based applications. These particular Web services-based transactions differ from traditional transactions in that they execute over long periods, they re- quire commitments to the transaction to be negotiated at runtime, and isolation levels have to be relaxed. In this pa- per, we present a survey on various aspects of the research of Web service transactions, including Web service com- posite framework, extended transaction models, Web service transaction specifications and so on. Lastly, we try to give an indication of where Web service transactions will go in the future.
