The Estimation of the Entire Features from the Archaeological Fragment Presented by Point Clouds

Extracting entire features,such as rotational axis and profile from archaeological fragment is helpful for rapid reconstruction of cultural relics.This paper presented methods of estimating rotational axis and the profile of a rotational fraction presented by 3D point clouds.Calculating the axis of the rotational axis by using the related knowledge about the line geometry and the estimating the profile,the paper projected 3D point clouds,got 2D point clouds by adopting Square Distance Minimization method to fitting these 2D point clouds after projection.The results show the estimated axis and profile can obtain good effect.
