Application of STATCOM in Improvement of Power Quality

Classification and operation principles of static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) are introduced. According to different compensation aims, such as power factor correction and system voltage control, different control strategies are discussed respectively. Comparing to static var compensator (SVC), many advantages of STATCOM are analyzed.
