THE POTENTIAL APPLICATION OF DATABASE SYSTEMS IN NUCLEAR SAFETY

Now there are 3 units (altogether 2100 MWe) of two nuclear power plants under operation for commercial use in China, and another 8 units (altogether 6560 MWe) of four nuclear power plants will be built before the end of this century. Because the nuclear power development takes safety as the first principle in siting, designing, operating and decommissioning with the whole process lasting several decades, the regulation and implementation of nuclear safety face special requirements. This paper discusses the potential future application of database technique in nuclear safety management, including the necessity and urgency for nuclear safety management databases, the practicability and some general considerations for a real database.
